Battle Royale games have become a sensation all around the world. Starting in Korea with PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG), the genre has since expanded to include several of the world’s most played online games.

What makes PUBG so unique is that it was the first game to take the concept and popularize it, which has subsequently led to several other developers copying the style of gameplay and making their own massive titles. Examples of this include Fortnite, Free Fire, Rules of Survival, Creative Destruction, and more.

The game now has sold more than 50 million copies, making it one of the most popular games in the world today. Now you can play it on Android for free with PUBG Mobile.

What is PUBG Mobile?

Developed by Tencent Games, the game has been the template from which all other battle royale games took their inspiration. The premise of the game goes like this:

You start in a plane, with 100 other players, and you can choose when to jump with your parachute, meaning that you can land anywhere on the 8x8km island. The ultimate goal is to be the last person, or team, left alive.

Players don’t start with any equipment, although there are loot packages scattered around the map containing these items.

Players can also find vehicles and other useful items around the massive map. These are hidden in ghost towns, industrial complexes, forests, and other environments. Every now and then an area of the map will be bombed – players will be warned before this happens, and if they don’t evacuate the area, then they’ll likely be killed. You can, of course, find some very valuable items in these dangerous areas.

As each round goes on, the playable area gets smaller and smaller, thus increasing the chances that players will encounter one another. These zones will appear randomly on the map throughout the game, forcing players to move around instead of just hiding in the long grass with a sniper rifle.

Eventually, the playable zone will be small enough that the last remaining players will have no choice but to confront each other. So it is that a victor will be decided.

How to Install PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) on Android

To get the game on Android, simply press the download button at the top of this page and you’ll be taken to Google Play where it will be installed on your device.

The game is totally free to play – although, there are in-game purchases that mostly have to do with cosmetic and stylish items, as well as the occasional weapon upgrade. For the most part, it’s an equal playing field, and you won’t have to spend any money to have your share of the action. There are also no ads in the game. Huray!

PUBG Mobile Tips and Tricks

If you want to take your game to the next level, then try out these tried and tested PUBG tips and tricks – you’ll find it much easier to survive if you use them.

Judge your landing right

The PUBG Mobile map is huge, but if you land in the sea, then you’re basically fudged. No, seriously, make sure you land in an area that other players aren’t aiming for, and one that is close to towns or other built-up areas – as this is where the best weapons are. Some areas have better weapons and armor (the military base is the obvious one), but other players do know this, and they’ll also gather there.

Don’t spend too much time in the sky

Other players will be preparing while you’re practicing aerobatics. Bad idea.

Gear up

Don’t be the guy with the frying pan – find as much gear as possible, as early as possible. Supply drops are where you find the best stuff – but be wary, everyone else will be going towards them.

Stay near the edge of the playable blue zone

Make sure you’re always in the playable circle, otherwise you’ll start taking damage. Although most players go towards the center, it’s actually better to stick close to the edge. You’ll have less chance of getting flanked.

Consider an emulator

While everyone is playing PUBG Mobile on… mobile, you could be playing it on your PC. Playing PUBG Mobile on PC with an Android emulator like BlueStacks is a great way to get a serious advantage over your opponents. You’ll have way more responsive controls. The PUBG Mobile controller on Android ensures that your fingers are covering some of the screen, and they’re just generally not as responsive as they are on a PC.

Try practicing against bots

PUBG Mobile bots are a neat little way to get you started. They’re easy to kill and will prepare you in the early days for fighting real people.

Download PUBG Mobile Updates

Make sure you’re running the latest version of PUBG Mobile apk by regularly checking Google Play for updates. These will improve your experience and ensure smooth gameplay throughout.

PUBG Mobile vs Fortnite

The two games are so similar that the developers of PUBG threatened NetEase (Fortnite developers) with legal action.

The main difference is that Fortnite is a more cartoonish game with bubbly graphics and more humorous gameplay, compared to PUBG’s smart console-like graphics and serious gameplay.

They’re both worth a go, check out Fortnite as well as PUBG Mobile and see which one you like best.
