Streaming movies and TV shows has become all the rage in the last decade. The era of paid TV subscriptions, renting DVDs, and even going to the cinema is more or less over. Blockbuster is certainly a thing of the past, and people trying to sell you pirated DVDs pretty much is too since anyone can just torrent a movie online for free.

The thing is, with all the viruses that came with torrenting, as well as the fact that it’s simply long and a pain in the ass, people eventually started to move away from it. But where did they go? You’d be forgiven for answering with Netflix – to be fair, most of them did go to Netflix, but 20 million went elsewhere: Hulu.

Why Download Hulu APK?

The streaming app is becoming a real thorn in the side of Netflix’s dominance of the streaming market – although it’s currently only available in the U.S. and Japan. Still, the rising titan of Hulu is making waves with its massive library of movies and TV shows, that is almost on par with Netflix (although, it is a step down).

What really makes Hulu stand out is the fact that you can watch Live TV on it, although this is a paid feature that comes at a hefty $39.99 / month. With this package, you can watch TV shows, news, live sports on ESPN, and much more. It’s cheaper than other TV packages, and frankly it’s a lot more convenient seeing as you can watch it all on your Android, iOS, TV, laptop, and more.

For the standard entry package, which allows you to watch stuff from the vast library of TV shows and movies, with minimal commercials, costs a much more reasonable $7.99 / month. Although, with this package, you will have to endure the odd commercial, unlike Netflix, where you’re commercial free. Still, if it’s a choice between Hulu or Sky / Cable, then there is a clear winner here.

Hulu vs Netflix: Which is Better?

The comparison is an obvious one to make. But which is better, all things considered? Let’s first have a look at the pros of both.

Both Netflix and Hulu have thousands of movies and TV Shows to offer, and they both cost roughly the same (for their entry level packages, at least). They both have an intuitive interface and neatly organized categories that make searching for titles in a particular genre an easy process.

On top of this, both of them can be used across multiple devices once you’ve created an account, although Hulu only allows you to watch on one device at a time with the standard subscription. You can pay $14.99 / month to watch Hulu on as many devices as you want at the same time. In contrast to this, the cheapest Netflix subscription ($6.99 / month) allows you to watch on more than one device at the same time.

Both streaming services offer Original productions. Netflix spends billions of dollars on making Netflix Originals like House of Cards, Orange is the New Black, Lost in Space, and more. Hulu also spends a fair amount of money on its signature productions, although, they receive less acclaim that those made by Netflix.

While Netflix doesn’t feature any commercials at all, Hulu’s basic package includes ads, causing a slight nuisance for users. Both services offer a free trial month, although, to get the full deal you’ll have to pay to use them – for Hulu, watching live TV costs $39.99 / month (not cheap) – although this is good value for what you get, and it is totally fair enough, it remains a downside all the same.

To add insult to injury, Hulu charges users for add-ons such as HBO for $14.99 / month, and Showtime for $8.99 / month. While this opens up the whole catalogue of what’s on offer with these services, it nonetheless subjects users already paying for the service to shell out even more to watch half decent TV shows and movies.

Hulu can be considered the future of TV subscription, and it works in much the same way as a Sky box used to, although, given that other services like Netflix have so much more content already, this is a questionable expense.

Another major downside is that Hulu is currently only available in the U.S. and Japan – although, this will likely change in the future.

Hulu Live Sports

One thing that we can say is that Hulu bringing you ESPN and more to watch live sports is a damn good feature to be thrown into the overall $39.99 / month package. Sports usually costs a lot on its own, so having it included in Hulu already really puts some icing on top of the service.

You can watch all the latest football, baseball, basketball, Formula One and more.
