With so many social media applications to choose from, it can be difficult to know which messaging software to use. This piece will look at one of the more controversial options out there: Whatsapp Plus (Whatsapp+). We’ll look over what the app is, its main features, how it weighs up against Whatsapp, and how you can install it on your device. Let’s get to it!

What is Whatsapp Plus apk?

The messaging app that had the tech community up in arms is harder to come by these days since Whatsapp issued a cease and desist order to the developer of Whatsapp Plus. The app is markedly similar to the Whatsapp app, although the logo is blue instead of green, and it comes with an array of unique features. If you use Whatsapp Plus, you can still chat to Whatsapp users.

The chat application is arguably a more private alternative to messaging and digital media sides like Facebook as messages are encrypted and data is more secure. While the Whatsapp is owned by Facebook, Whatsapp Plus is not, and thus messages and calls cannot be used to supply algorithms which would later be used to target ads.

Since legal difficulties, many people have begun using GBWhatsapp apk, which is a mod based on Whatsapp Plus. For this article, we’ll focus on Whatsapp Plus apk, however, and cover GBWhatsapp apk in a separate piece.

Based on the cross-platform messaging service, WhatsApp Plus 2018 offers more enhanced technology than the original digital SMS chat service, while supposedly retaining the original privacy of the green icon.

The app provides you with a platform to share large amounts of digital media, as well as giving them a secure line for sending messages and calls.

It should be noted that Whatsapp Plus is not an official successor to Whatsapp and if you use the app, you can face a lifetime ban from the original Whatsapp. Legal action was taken against Plus’ Spanish developer Rafalanse, forcing him to close the online community supporting Whatsapp Plus.

Anyone who keeps an eye on independent developers will be well aware that they don’t tend to give in easily. Even after Whatsapp issued a lifelong ban of their service for anyone using Plus, the alternative messaging app is still making waves in the underground.

Whatsapp Plus 2019 isn’t in the spotlight yet, but rumour is that it’s scheduled for release sometime later this year.

Features of Whatsapp Plus apk

The enhanced functions of Whatsapp Plus apk are what make it stand out from the original. You have a lot more freedom over how the interface looks, as well as how their own status on the app is portrayed by others.

Customisable themes:

Whatsapp Plus features up to 700 unique visual themes, which can be used as backgrounds for chats, or as a way to customise the interface. Whatsapp Plus apk 2018 also comes with lots of new emoticons to choose from, making for a more interesting messaging experience.

The freedom to redesign the skin of the interface with different themes makes it a more engaging SMS app than the original app’s single choice background and minimalist interface.

Hide last seen status:

One of the more initially hyped-up features of Whatsapp Plus is that you can hide your ‘last seen’ status on a message, clouding to others when you last used the app. This is a paid feature, however, and has since been offered by the original Whatsapp for free, rendering it somewhat unexciting. Users of the original app who hide their ‘last seen’ status are unable to see anyone else status, however, whereas Plus does allow this.

Send bigger files:

Among the most useful features of Whatsapp Plus 2018 is that it allows you to share significantly larger files than on the original Whatsapp, making it an ideal messaging service to use if you’re looking to transfer large data files.

Tech enthusiasts are always on the lookout for new software that allows you to securely share messages, digital media and files – without having to worry about being hacked or spied on. Whatsapp Plus seems to provide one of the best SMS platforms yet to do this on.

Whatsapp Plus APK vs Whatsapp

While the two apps may appear similar at first glance, under the surface there’s some very different biology going on. Here are the three main differences:

File sharing:

As mentioned before, Whatsapp Plus has a significantly better capacity for sharing data than its little green cousin. While on Whatsapp the limit for file sharing is currently 16MB, on Plus it’s a more reasonable 50MB. This is an essential selling point for many of Plus’ user base as it allows for more free file sharing across the internet.

Plus also allows you to personalise the app to their own preference. This is something that the Whatsapp developers have been less than keen to get in to, and the original app doesn’t allow you to change their interface at all, rather keeping it somewhat sterile. Plus scores points for letting its users change the interface.

This one is dubious, it’s very difficult to discern just how serious Plus is about privacy, as the coding can only be verified by a select group of people – namely the developers themselves.

Whatsapp insists that users of Plus risk having their private information sold on to third parties, and while this could very well be the case, it could also just be a scare tactic employed by Whatsapp to stomp out the competition.

One thing for sure is that messages sent in Whatsapp app, while secure and never read by anyone else, are used to create targeted ads for Facebook users – seeing as the social media giant owns the app. Whatsapp Plus is a potentially more secure and private alternative, that can still be used to message users of the original Whatsapp.

How to use:

Using Whatsapp Plus 2018 is very similar to using the Whatsapp, so anyone familiar with this will have little trouble adjusting.

That being said, Plus does have some tweaks that are worth knowing about. First, you can hide your online status, when messages have been read, and when you last viewed a conversation – just click on the three vertical dots in the top right of the screen – go to Settings > Account > Privacy and uncheck each option to your preference.

Downloading Whatsapp Plus apk on Android:

Due to the difficult legal position that the app found itself in Whatsapp Plus cannot be downloaded through the Play Store, and must instead be downloaded through a third party on your browser. The same applies for Whatsapp Plus on Samsung.

Simply click the ‘download’ button at the bottom of this article while on your phone and the app will install the latest version of Whatsapp Plus APK. The file is around 34MB in size, and once downloaded, you can open the app and begin using it.

Installing Whatsapp Plus apk on iOS:

Installing Whatsapp Plus on iOS is a little more complicated. Firstly, it’s not in the Apple Store – as you probably already guessed.

Firstly, click the download button for iOS at the bottom of the article. Next, download Cydia Impactor from Cydiaimpactor.com.

Cydia Impactor is a tool that helps you to install IPA files on iOS and APK files on Android.

Once that’s installed, connect your iPhone to your computer with a USB cable, open Cydia Impactor, and drag the downloaded app into Cydia.

Cydia Impactor will ask for your Apple ID and password to verify the download, it is up to you whether you want to provide this or not.

Once the app is installed go to Settings > General > Profiles / Device Management / Profiles & Device Management > locate the profile with your Apple ID and ope. Finally, just click the trust button and now you can open and use Whatsapp Plus.

Whatsapp Plus offers a more personalised experience where the user has more control over how they appear to other users of the app and can send bigger data packages. However, this comes at a price as the software is controversial and can mean being banned from using Whatsapp. As well as this, we can’t guarantee that your information won’t be sold to third-parties – but then, can you really guarantee that on the Whatsapp? We leave this one up to you.
